May 8 Minor Phillies 5 Marlins 4
The Minor Phillies and
Marlins rematch was nearly identical to the first meeting. The Marlins sent
lefty Tyler Webb to the hill and the Phillies countered with Cory Bright and
both pitched well. The Marlins plated a run in the 1st and three in the fifth on
hits from Webb, Alec Catalini and Eli Keegan. The Phillies had one big inning
scoring five runs in the 3rd on key hits from Jared Crowell (multiple hit game),
Ryan Clancy, Bright (multiple hit game) and Connor Smith. The Marlins defense
was fantastic with Mike Cunningham behind the dish, Anthony Souza, Dillon
Kaliris, Nick D'Amico and Austin Weiner making plays. The Phillies defense was
anchored by Mike Polcari, Sean Prendergrast, Darwin Anderson, Daniel Cunningham,
Luke Van Veen, Garrett Fogarty and Billy Muzarol. Ian Libby pitched well in
relief for the Marlins as did Crowell and Smith for the Phillies. Clancy
preserved the 5-4 Philly win with a huge strike out and bases loaded.
