May 20 Cubs 6 Dodgers 3
In ideal conditions, the Cubs and
Dodgers faced off Tuesday at Lincoln Field for
what turned out to be another classic baseball game. The Dodgers got things
going right away at the plate with hits from Phillip Dwyer, Ben Pierce, Eamonn
Burke, and Patrick Coen. However, the Cubs were able to hold the Dodgers to 1
run due to some outstanding defensive plays by Ryan Nagle and Calvin White. The
Cubs produced 3 runs in their half of the first with singles from Matt Kruse,
Owen Thorsteinsson,
Patrick Donahue, Justin Smith, Jack Flynn, and Aidan Thorsteinsson. The
second inning saw the Cubs get 3
more when Stephen Buckley, Garret Fogarty, Darwin Anderson, and Matt Goulian all
collected hits. Once the Dodgers settled in, their defense was stout, shutting
down the Cubs thanks to gems provided by Steven Stromski, Justin Parker and
Darren Parker. The Dodgers bats come alive again, spreading out hits by Ryan
Long, Zach McGuire, Jay Tucci, and Dillon Kaliris, producing 2 runs in the four!
th. After the fourth inning neither team could produce any runs, resulting
in
the final score, with the Cubs 6 and the Dodgers 3. Outstanding pitching
performances were provided by Dillon Kaliris and Stephen Stromski of the Dodgers
and Darwin Anderson, Aiden Thorteinsson, Justin Smith, and Patrick Donahue of
the Cubs.
