The Minor Phillies and
Pirates faced off for the first time this season on Mothers Day. The Phillies
sent Jared Crowell to the bump and the Pirates sent Tommy Callanan. Crowell
surrendered a run and a hit over his two innings of work. Callanan pitched two
great innings of three run baseball. The Pirates tied the game at 3 in third as
Avery Davis and Gavin Prodgers (multiple hit game) smoked the raw hide. Philly
reliever Ryan Clancy pitched three innings of 3 run baseball. The Pirate defense
was anchored by Jordan Kelley, Ben Pierce, Danny Broderick, Joe Paratore, Noah
Cheema and Nate Shu. The Philly defense had Saoirse Connolly, Darwin Anderson,
Garrett Fogarty and Billy Muzarol making plays. The Phillies offense was lead by
Connor Smith (2 hits and 2 RBI), Clancy (multiple hit game) and Sean
Prendergrast. The big hit of the game came in the 4th with the score 6-4. With
two outs, Connolly walked and scored on a 2-run home run from Cory Bright (3
hits and 3 RBI).
