April 22 Phillies 8, Braves 1

The Phillies sent Cory Bright to the hill and the Braves countered with flame throwing Frankie Spada. Bright gave up one hit and five strikeouts in his two innings of work. Jacob Curren, Ian Fogarty and Harry Kumm led the Phillies defense. The Phillies scored in the home half as Bright was hit by a pitch and stole several bases to take a 1-0 lead. Spada dominated the second with defensive help from Sean Donovan, Collin Casey, Nick Cirillo, Austin McKay, Danny Denny and Matthew Starek. Jared Crowell pitched 1.1 innings of shutout ball as Jacob Bryer, Joe Patore and Spada collected key hits. The Phillies broke open the game in the third when Bright, Crowell, Nick Cordeau and Stephen Holmberg collected base hits taking a 4-0 lead. Cordeau relieved Crowell and shut down the Braves vaunted offense allowing one run while striking out six of 11 batters. The Phillies rallied one more time in the home half of the fifth scoring four runs as Kevin Burns and Michael Polcari collected huge extra base hits. The Braves went down swinging in the top of the sixth ending the hard fought game 8-1 Phillies.
