April 18   Federal  Dodgers 14 Braves 2

The Dodgers and Braves squared off on Opening Day at the beautiful field at Lincoln School.  The visiting Dodgers came out swinging with each memeber of the team getting at least one hit on their way to a 14-2 victory over the Braves.  Jonathan Ody led the hit parade with five hits.   Kyle Nolan, Matthew Kruse, Stephen Getsick and Patrick Coen all added four hits apiece.  Ryan Long and Harrison Jumper had two hits each with Ryan Safiry and Richard Tian adding one
hit each.  Offensively for the Braves, Lily "the Rookie" Spero nailed her first Federal hit. Zachary Strasnick brought home the Braves first run of the year, scoring in the bottom of the 3rd off a strong single by Jonah Crain. Ethan Nguyen also gained an RBI hitting in fellow Brave Roger Nadeau. Defensive highlights for the Braves included 3rd Baseman, Tyler Story showing his muscle by cranking the ball to 1st baseman Nadeau in time to close out the 1st inning. Also at 1st, Nguyen and Crain each caught high pop fly's for unassisted outs and Jimmy Arneil stopped a hard line drive for an additional out. Fielders Zachary Cunningham, Carolyn Mahoney and Riley Wilson each had solid defensive stops at 2nd Base. Catcher Joe Mullen was a brick at the plate to close out the game in the 6th.
